Okatsune Hedge Shears 200mm (7.5″) blade, long handled

Code C3SKO230

Large hedge shears with long wooden handles of 50 cm, and a large razor-sharp blade of 200 mm. The long handles give you a great reach, so cutting up to 2.5 meters is possible. You can also cut large surfaces faster, easily penetrate deep into the crop, and effortlessly cut lower without bending.

The sharp blades and the leverage of the long wooden handles ensure that you will cut effortlessly through the toughest branches – like old hornbeam, pyracantha or rhododendron. But also for the finer work – like conifers, boxwood and similar – the 230 is very suitable. Contrary to the 217, where the stopper has been mounted on the left shoulder, the Okatsune 230 has an integrated stopper function.

Okatsune hedge shears are very user friendly, and a pleasure to use. You will notice that you can very accurately shape your hedge with ease. The handles of Japanese white oak are well-known to absorb vibration, therefore working with these shears will be a very pleasant experience. The combination of the 200 mm long blade, and the handles of 500 mm ensures a perfect balance, and sufficient strength that you need to easily cut the hedge, or prune the branches.
The blades of these Japanese hedge shears (Karikomi Basami) are uniquely forged from the finest IZUMO YASUGI steel, and have a very high Rockwell hardness of 60.0 to 61.0. This hardness ensures that the blades stay sharper for longer, and always make a clean and precise cut in the wood. However, soft metal in the core of the blade make the shears tough. This toughness makes sure that the cutting blade always fits well on the counter-blade and does not break, not even under heavy load. A leather sheath for the blade is included.

The shears are constructed from a few components, so that there is hardly any maintenance required. It is recommended to clean the blades after each use. After cleaning it is recommended to oil the shears, and store moisture free with the cutting blades closed. If you notice that the shears are cutting less well, you can grind them using the Okatsune whetstone (Okatsune 412).
